Future Bike
Here is a test render and progress shots of the Future Bike model I have been working on the past 3 weeks. This is an artist study I'm doing on Joshua Kinney's tutorial from Digital Tutors' website.
You can find the tutorial here if you're interested:
http://www.digitaltutors.com/tutorial/374-Introduction-to-Modeling-in-3ds-Max
This tutorial was a great learning experience, as I learned a lot of interesting modeling techniques for hard surfaces. Such as how to utilize 3ds Max's edge loop tool, mirroring, and how to create some interesting shapes through spline modeling. I was pretty dissapointed that the tutorial forced me to use some boolean techniques (for the holes in the bar that holds the seat) and NURBS techniques (for the pedals). But I guess that is expected of 101 tutorials.
After all that I just did some quick renders to try to figure out which type of red would be best for the bike. So the image above is the final test render that I decided to stick with. I will use those materials and that color scheme to move on towards the final renderings of this bike. Below you will find progress shots and up close shots of the bike.
P.S: I'm doing a 101 tutorial because I feel that I'm more comfortable with sculpting in 3d packages than I am in actually modeling. So I figured covering the fundamentals would improve my growth the most. Which is why in the upcoming weeks, you will see more basic stuff such as this and a lot more artist studies.

Roots Tileable Texture WIP
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did! Unfortunately, my family is all the way out in New Jersey, so I didn't get to visit them. I instead stayed in my cozy apartment and worked on my tileable textures haha
I had to work on a different tileable texture for my online class so I began to work on this. I know absolutely nothing about texturing (other than dragging and dropping textures from a material onto an object). This has proven to be extremely difficult, but I got around to learning how to use xNormal and the basics of the different map types. I am meeting up with a friend on Monday for 2 hours to talk about the basics of texturing. After that is done, I will continue to work on both this and the leaves tileable texture when I have free time.

What is fortunate but also bad news, is that I will have to move on and
start making a highly detailed mountain scene soon. I will obviously
be putting in more work into that more than anything else. So just
prepare to see more mountain stuff.

Tileable Texture WIP
This is a part of a tileable texture that I'm creating from scratch using 3ds Max. I should be done with this by the end of the week.
*UPDATE*
Here is another progress shot of some branches and leaves.

Damaged Pillar Photoshop Renders
Here is my Damaged Pillar! This is an artist study I did of David Lesperance's destroyed pillar. I currently am taking an online class being thaught by him. The techniques taught by David have helped me to create the work below. These are renders done through photoshop. I'm going to take it into another rendering program and play around with it when I get the chance. For now this is what I have. I just got sunk into doing this tonight, I couldn't resist working on this today! More "realistic renders" to come, and that will be the last I work on this. Feedback would be great!

Damaged Pillar ZBrush WIP
Here is what I have so far of the Pillar sculpted in ZBrush. All that
is left to do is a bit of texturing, adding more damage, and rendering
it out. I do have a lot of work pilling up starting in the morning so I
don't know if I can finish it by tomorrow, but I will definitely have
it done by the end of the week! And as always, critiques welcome!

Damaged Pillar WIP
This is a damaged pillar asset made in 3ds Max, that I'm currently working on. I just finished the base model and am about to take this into Zbrush and then render it out!
